The Dubai Zoo was originally built with the permission of the late ruler, H.H. Sheikh Rashid Bin Maktoum. He dedicated two hectares in the Jumeirah neighborhood to the purpose, and the zoo first held only a few large animals and a small aquarium. But once the Dubai Municipality took over operations of the zoo in 1971, the zoo began to be re-designed and expanded.
Today, you will enjoy staying in a budget hotel in Dubai near the Dubai Zoo because of its location in the green and lovely Jumeirah suburbs. Plus, what location other than a budget hotel in Dubai near the Dubai Zoo will let you get so close to the animals in the first Arabian Zoo? The Dubai Zoo is not just the oldest zoo in the UAE, but is also the first one that was involved in breeding programs. Both the Chimpanzee and the Arabian wild cat have been successfully bred in programs at the zoo.
