Craigievar Castle is one of the prettiest castles in Scotland and is an excellent example of Scottish Baronial architecture with its fairy-tale like features giving the whole structure a truly romantic feel. The castle is beautifully positioned in the Aberdeeshire hillsides and fits in perfectly with the rolling hills. The great tower stands as it did 400 years ago when it was first completed by Master William Forbes Danzig Willie.
The lower towers with their simple architecture contrast strikingly with the turrets, the cupolas and the corbelling that decorates the roofline of the castle. Within the walls of the castle is contained some wonderful family portraits as well as fine examples of 17th and 18th century furniture. The castle itself remains in pristine condition and does not seem to have been damaged by hundreds of years harsh Scottish winters. The castle is open to the public trough out the year and is a must see for all castle enthusiasts.
