The sands of Forvie have to be one of the places you decide to visit if you find yourself in the North East of Scotland. Anyone who loves bird watching will not be disappointed as there are 225 recorded species of birds in the area with 43 of these breeding species. Each summer as many as 6000 Eider Duck come to breed by the Ythan Estuary which runs alongside the sands. No matter what time of year you do decide to visit you will not be disappointed.

In order to reach the Sands you must follow the A975 coastal road leading out of Aberdeen to Cruden Bay. Follow the sign post by the side of the road in order to gain access into the reserve. The sands and their dunes cover a massive area next to the Ythan Estuary. The estuary and the sands combined create an ideal place for wildlife watching all year round.
