Banff Museum is one of Scotland’s oldest museums, established back in 1828 and located in the small picturesque town of Banff. The museum is a lovely place to bring the children to for a few hours if you find you have a bit of free time. Since the North East of Scotland is so cold it is always nice to have some indoor activities to take advantage of.

When you visit the museum you will get to see a unique electro-type copy of Deskford Carnyx. As well as this the museum also boasts possible one of the oldest trumpets in the world dating back 2000 years. Other displays include a history of the town of Banff, going into detail about the geology and history of the town as well as its silver, arms and armour. The museum also houses special displays of Thomas the famous naturalist from Banff and James Ferguson the 18th century astronomer.
