The castle its self was constructed in the 16th century and is a fine example of one of the many tower houses which are scattered across Scotland. The castle is in excellent condition considering its age and some of the rooms still retain their original painted ceilings as well as collections of family portraits and furniture. If you do make the effort to go and visit the garden then be sure to also go and look at the walled garden which incorporates a herbaceous border as well as many unusual flowers. Also keep an eye out for some of the wildlife which lives on the castle grounds.
