The Maritime Museum is an award winning museum located just off of Union Street in the center of Aberdeen. The museum traces the history of how the North Sea has influenced life in Aberdeen as well as in the surround localities. If you are a budding engineer than the museum is a must see with its displays and exhibitions of offshore oil rigs and industry as well as fishing. The museum also has within it a shop and café for relaxing after having enjoyed the exhibitions.
Aberdeen’s history is very closely tied to the North see originally as a port where goods from Northern Europe were imported and exported from and also fishing. More recently the sea has become an extremely valuable source of government revenue with the discovery of oil of its shore line 30 years ago. As a result to fully appreciate what Aberdeen is you should visit the museum to gain a better understanding.
