Angus is a council area of Scotland. The northwest part of the region is quite mountainous and Angus attractions located here include the very popular Angus Glens, of which there are five. Glen Cova is the glen favored by wildlife enthusiasts, while in the winter the braver souls can enjoy some ice climbing. For more winter activities, visit Glenisla; some of the most spectacular Angus sights are found here, in the fall, when the foliage changes color. Experience ancient Angus culture and visit the region’s many carved stones and archeological remains. Head to the village of Aberlemno to admire three large carved Pictish stones, which date to the 7th and 8th centuries, and the village of Eassie to view its carved Pictish stone, dating most likely to sometime in the 600s.

When visiting Angus, be sure to check out Arbroath Abbey, founded in the 12th century, and Brechin Castle, originally constructed in the 13th century but rebuilt in the 18th century; there are numerous guest lodges that dot the grounds of the castle, where tourists can stay, and there is the Brechin Castle Centre, where you can get some great Angus shopping done. Other castles to visit on a weekend in Angus are the Edzell Castle, which is supposedly haunted, and Glamis Castle, the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon.
