If you wish to mix with a crowd, head to one of the most popular attractions in the city of Belfast. This is the Belfast Zoo. Here, you can join children and adults as they wend their way across the park, spending a delightful time among the various animals.
The Belfast Zoo is in the northern part of the city, in Cave Forest Park. It dates back to the 1920s when it began as Bellevue Gardens. Today, the Zoo has changed to meet the challenge of caring for animals in changing times. The site covers 55 acres and has 140 different species. The zoo has the standard lineup of camels, elephants, giraffes, lions and zebras. Of the over 1,200 animals, many of them are representative of endangered species. These include the rare White Tiger, Hawaiian Geese and Indian Lions. For pure pleasure, wander over to the sea tanks. You have excellent underwater views of the cavorting sea lions and penguins.
