If you have an interest in contemporary visual arts, there is only one place to go if you are in Northern Ireland. You must visit Belfast. In Belfast, you will find the major exhibition space for contemporary visual arts. This is the Ormeau Baths Gallery or OBG.
OBG derives its name from its location. It is within the walls of a former Victorian public swimming bath house. It was originally designed by Robert Watt in the 19th century. Today, this 10,000 square foot space is home to the latest and most intriguing examples of visual art. The area is divided into four separate spaces. This allows the ORG to showcase multiple exhibitions in a variety of media. These exhibitions are ever changing and ever intriguing. The artists are not only from Ireland but also from around the world. They have exhibited the works of Gilbert and George as well as Yoko Ono.
