Dorset Hotels and Accommodation
Dorset is a county in southwestern England, located on the coast of the English Channel. The capital of the county is the town of Dorchester; since this is a market town, you can get some Dorset shopping done here. Dorset culture and Dorset geography are essentially what have contributed to Dorset tourism. There are a number of beach locations in the county, including Lulworth Cove, the Isle of Portland and Chesil Beach. The beach resort towns of the coast are other Dorset sights that tourists enjoy; there is Bournemouth, Weymouth and Lyme Regis. Water sports such as windsurfing and scuba diving are practiced at most of these places.
Things to do in Dorset beach towns don’t only include fun in the sun, though. While you’re in Bournemouth, check out the Richmond Hill Church. While you’re in Weymouth, admire the ruins of the Sandsfoot Castle, dating to the 16th century. Finally, in Lyme Regis, there is the 14th century watermill and St. Michael’s Church. The antiquity of the county also provides a number of archeological remains to admire; indeed, while visiting Dorset, you should check out Maiden Castle, a hill fort dating to around 400 BC, as well as Hod Hill, a large hill fort dating to 500 BC. Whether you’re thinking of spending a week or a weekend in Dorset, you should look online for all the Dorset attractions you’d like to hit while passing through the county.
