King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, also known as King Tut’s to locals in Glasgow, is one of the best known and most respected live music venues in the city. The venue has been in operation since February of 1990 and has established a reputation for bringing new Scottish bands into the public spotlight as well as showing established bands. The venue has been credited with early showings of Beck, Radiohead and Travis who all played at the venue before they were well known.

King Tut’s was awarded the Best Live Venue in the UK by Radio One and has an intimate atmosphere, due partly to the fact that the venue can only accommodate an audience of about four hundred people. The venue is supposedly named after King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut which was located in the East Village of New York city on Seventh Street and was well known during the 1980s.
