The Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art is one of the most spectacular art galleries in the city. The gallery frequently displays art from completely new or upcoming artists and is therefore an excellent way to get to know some of the most exciting new developments in both Scottish new art, as well as modern art from further a field. Outside of London it is the most visited modern art gallery in Britain. The elegant neo classical building in which the gallery is housed was opened in 1996, after an extensive refurbishment process that brought together an exciting blend of both modern and classical features.
In the years since the gallery has opened it has been a source of inspiration for several million visitors as well as countless artists. On the upper level of the gallery is an education access facility which runs workshops and classes for those interested in gaining experience and knowledge of art.
