BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra Hotels
After several years and millions of pounds spent refurbishing the home of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Glasgow City Hall is again the proud host of this marvellous musical asset. Since 1935 the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra has been supporting the BBC Symphony Orchestra of the UK, both in the UK and abroad, and has built up an international reputation that is second to none. The Glasgow City Hall, where the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra is housed, is a grand building that was designed by George Murray and opened in 1841. The building has always been a venue for large concerts and gatherings and the Old Fruitmarket which is directly connected to it was in use until the 1970s. After this time, the fruitmarket also became a musical venue, used mostly for folk and jazz concerts. The Glasgow City Hall should not be confused with Glasgow City Chambers which is the administrative building for Glasgow City Council.
