The Citizen’s theater was opened in 1909 and was noted from the outset for its Manifesto and ethos which stated “The Repertory Theater is Glasgow's own theater. It is a citizens' theater in the fullest sense of the term. Established to make Glasgow independent from London for its dramatic supplies, it produces plays which the Glasgow playgoers would otherwise not have the opportunity of seeing".
It has become synonymous with innovation and frequently performs new drama from writers all over the world. These types of plays have often caused controversy and gained media attention. One of the thing that the citizen’s theater is still very well known for is the fact that it has managed to keep its prices low, in line with its original commitment to being a theater for the people of Glasgow. In fact, if you are visiting Glasgow on a budget, this is a perfect attraction to visit.
