Visitors to Croydon and the surrounding area probably already know what a key part in the Second World War that the famous Battle of Britain played. However, those tourists who want to see some images from the period firsthand and to gain a better understanding of what life was like in that era now have the opportunity to do so by visiting the Battle of Britain Monument.

Only recently unveiled in 2005 by the Prince of Wales, the Battle of Britain Monument is considered to be a modern masterpiece of the sculptural arts, incorporating a great deal of detail as well as classical design sensibilities suitable for the context of the modern city.
