ExCeL Exhibition Centre in London

The ExCeL Exhibition Centre is a large purpose built exhibition centre situated in the Royal Docks area of London's redeveloped Docklands. The centre opened in November 2000. ExCel's site covers over 100 acres, located on the north side of the Royal Victoria Dock. The center's waterfront location is used to an advantage when it hosts the annual London Boat Show, visiting vessels are able to moor alongside the exhibition centre. The exhibition building itself consists of two column free rectangular halls of 32,500 m sq. each, either side of a central boulevard. The halls can be subdivided for smaller events. There are also a number of function rooms. A temporary hall can be added on part of the car park when required, as it is for the London Boat Show. ExCeL is served by the main western entrance is directly linked to Custom House station, which is served by trains, the Docklands Light Railway and National Rail's North London Line. The eastern entrance is connected to Prince Regent station, which is served by the Docklands Light Railway. For major shows with large visitor attendances, the Docklands Light Railway runs additional shuttle trains to and from Canning Town station, with interchange there to the London Underground's Jubilee Line.
