 "Golden star hotel service"
The room was so little and the bed was bad the bathroom was not clean and the breakfast was just a toast with bread no milk ... and the cup is not clean :( (the hotel is not the same in the photos) you should not advertise this hotel in your web site.

"Turned away, no help, despite confirmed booking"
Do not book here. I was turned away by Golden Star Hotel despite having a confirmed booking because they had over over-booked and had no rooms left.
Despite it being their error, they offered no help or suggestions. The man who answered the door had no suggestions, so I persuaded him to phone the manager, which he did but the manager replied with one sentence, basically saying that there was nothing they could do. No apologies, no help, so I was out on the street at 7:30 in the evening and had to go from hotel to hotel for two hours trying to find a room. Eventually a very helpful hotel manager at another hotel phoned a contact at a hotel in another part of London and I finally checked in at 10:30 at night.
I tried getting help from EASYTOBOOK.COM but they were unable to help me because when they tried to contact Golden Star Hotel no-one answered the phone and because EASYTOBOOK.COM customer service is based in India they couldn't access any hotels for that evening on-line as it was already the next day in India.
Do not trust a confirmed booking at Golden Star Hotel.

 "A last resort!"
Even when we changed from a dingy basement 'double room' with plastic sheets covering a broken window, to a slightly improved and brighter upstairs twin there was no room to close the bathroom door if you sat on the toilet. The only acceptable feature was cost when most other places in the area were fully booked.

 "Not as bad as expected"
I went into this hotel expecting terrible things after reading some of the reviews. Me and my partner were looking for a budget room in the centre of London and we were shown to one of the basement rooms. It was tidy and clean. Our en-suite was charming, you had to climb over the toilet seat to get into the shower. We only received breakfast from the staff on 1 of the 4 days we stayed, which wasn't too much of a bother as the breakfast only consisted of 4 toasted breads so we did prefer to eat out as it were. We didn't come across anything we would consider as being dirty however the whole hotel did have a run down appearance. It could certainly do with a fresh lick of paint. Overall it was perfect for a place for me and my partner to put our heads down after days of exploring London.

 "Well, that won't happen again"
Dreadful hellhole. Had to buy my own sheets. Wish I had bought my own towels, too. And my own breakfast. And a tent.

Grubby rooms, very noisy, ran out of water mid-shower on day one. But at least it was a short walk to Victoria.

 "The worst "hotel" ever!!!"
DO NOT stay in this hotel. I'm mean "hotel". Ever. EVER!! This is not even a hotel! There is not even a reception, it looks like someone rented a house to get some easy money (not cheap, by the way). Only the location is good. And that's it, nothing else: the room was dirt, also the sheets. There was no toilet paper in the toilet! (what??) And, believe or not, the shower was not working as well! (WHAT???) The breakfeast was very simple (ok, that was not the problem), but the dishes was (guess what??) also dirt.... The worst experience I ever had.

 "Only location"
The only thing that I like about this hotel is the location (5 min from Victoria) - nothing else!!!
The room is very small, the furniture is very old.
I've spent 5 nights there but they hasn't cleaned the room and changed the towel !!!!
The staff (the only poor English speaking man) wasn't friendly and polite enough.
There wasn't access to Wi-Fi in the room !!!
It's possible to stay here for 1 or 2 nights, but it will be a good idea to find something better!

 "No fair deal"
It was a roof over our heads. That was pretty much it. The space was immensely small with little features or maintenance. The bathroom was so small, you couldn't even fit in the seat!! The wifi only works on the ground floor. Definitely not worth the high prices. Try to avoid if possible

"Ok for a hotel in this price range"
For a hotel in central London (5 minutes to Victoria station, <10 minutes walk to Buckingham Palace) and for this price range it was alright. You won't get a luxurious stay here, but it's a cheap accommodation with a low standard. The rooms aren't very clean or nice, they could use a renovation, but a renovation would mean a higher night rate. Our room: In the basement, a window, toilet, shower and a large tv. TV didn't work, light didn't work in the shower, a pipe was leaking by the sink next to the toilet. Large double bed, bed was ok. Door is thin so you'll hear everything that's being said in the corridor. You might also hear the laundry machine.Service: Friendly staff, reception is two chairs next to the stairs. Breakfast is served in your room. So, for this hotel, don't have high expectations, have an open mind and just think of it as a place to sleep when you're visiting London. It isn't your average hotel. Remember, hotels in London are expensive, this is cheap so you'll somewhat get what you pay for.

 "Strongly do not recommend"
Our one night stay at the hotel was hugely disappointing. We wanted an affordable, convenient hotel for a one night stay and believed from the description that the Golden Star Hotel was just that. However, on arrival at the entrance we were greeted by a woman shouting from an adjacent street and were asked to fill our details out on a hand-written, torn-off piece of paper. The room can best be described as 'manky' and stale. Both the bedroom area and the narrow ensuite were very cramped, and whilst the room could not be described as being dirty, it was not fresh and was quite a distance off the usual and acceptable standards of hotels or public houses. Breakfast was served in the room at 8am and consisted off a meagre four pieces of toast. In conclusion, extremely unimpressed by the hotel and strongly do not recommend.

 "nice staying"
staff was very kind and helpful. There was no problem with very late check in (after 2 am.). On departure daywe could leave our luggage till afternoon, breakfast was served to our room everyday. In general-no complain.

"The only good thing is the position"
I stayed here for 3 nights in a triple room. I know hostels are cheap but here there's no desk or reception, rooms are dirty and gross, the bathroom is inaccessible (is like 2m x 1m). The only positive thing is the location. Full stop.

 "Basic"
Price was so cheap that I didn´t expect so much. Room was dirty, beds were SO dirty and room was stinky. Owner was great old man and that forgave a lot! Location was great and near of all, you could walk to everywhere.

 "Not very good hotel"
Pretty good location and friendly staff were only good things. They brought breakfast (2 toast & tea, sometimes eggs or cereals) to room on morning. The room wasn't clean and the shower didn't work well.

 "Not so golden"
I am the kind of person who doesn't really care what a hotel room is like. I go cheap and I'm not fussy. I paid £50 for one night b&b in an en-suite room. The biggest thing that could have been a problem was that when I turned up with my booking reference, they had no record of it. Thankfully they sorted me a room out straight away and I had to write my details on a scrap piece of paper. They asked what time I wanted breakfast and said they'd deliver it to my door. When I heard them deliver it to the room next door I had to remind them, so I'm not sure I would have got it if I hadn't have asked. Overall, the room was something I'd expect for that price in London, probably not to everyone's taste. The bed was nice and big and comfortable enough.

 "Unsatisfactory"
After finding out our twin en-suite room was not ready , we spent our first night in a attic bed room ,(not en suite ) with the promise of the room we booked and paid for in advance the next morning. The shared bathroom had no hot water, and a toilet that didn't flush. The next morning, after complaining about the shared bathroom, we were shown our en-suite room, which was no better, with a toilet that didn't flush and no hot water !! Needless to say we checked out straight away !! Very disappointing experience .
