The easiest way although not the quickest to reach the hotel is by taking the underground Piccadilly Line to Holborn and interchange to Central Line going west to get off in Shepherds Bush. The hotel is 500 meters from there.
From Gatwick Airport:
Take the train to Victoria Station and once there take the Circle Line on the underground. Get off in Notting Hill Gate and interchange to Central Line to get off in Shepherds Bush. The hotel is 500 meters from there.

I didn't actually stay there-it was full so i was put in hotel euro next door. hotel balkan seemed to be a house divided into rooms with no reception. the reception operated in the hotel next door. staff were very friendly and helpful. rooms clean and basic. the location was great and that was the best thing really. this is a basic hotel and that's why it's cheap.
I stayed in a room in the basement the first night. it had bed bugs. i was changed to a room on the top floor the second night. the heating and the shower were broken. no extra blankets so it was really cold. the next night i was moved to another hotel next door again and that room was fine except it didn't have any curtains! the whole thing was a bit ridiculous really. every room has a fridge but no hairdryer or extra blanket and has only one towel. i couldn't really relax as i kept having to pack up and move again.Wrona
