Chelsea in London

Chelsea is at the hub of some of the great attractions in London. The major artery, King's road, runs through the district, which is located southwest of Belgravia. It's the best place to start your London shopping expedition at Sloan Square. Bring your camera for some good shots of Gilbert Ledward fountain of Venus on your way to Peter Jones department store. The closest historical attraction to Chelsea is the Victoria and Albert Museum. This Museum of the Arts was founded in 1852 and features and architecture gallery, an incredible British Gallery studio, the history of periods and styles including an extensive collection from the Art Deco period, and the history of photography. Antique shops, bars, and restaurants are one of Chelsea's attractions, but you'll want to stay somewhere else for the hotels in this section of town are scarce. This is one of the artistic and fashion centers of town, or at least this was where the fashionable "Chelsea Look" from Mary Quant started in the 1960's. In fact, circa 60's celebrities' frequent Chelsea and some, such as Eric Clapton, Cher, and Michael Caine have homes here. If you head down to Chelsea Harbor, you might even run into one of them coming out of their apartment. While you're at the harbor, have lunch at the Aquasia Eastern restaurant
