There is a ring of thirteen local areas which make up Inner London; Lambeth is one of them. It is seven miles long and narrow of width. Lambeth has a population of 270,000 and over twenty two percent of those people are under twenty. Thirty eight percent are minorities, with Portuguese and Yoruba making up the two most popular of the 132 languages spoken in the borough. Some of the attractions in Lambeth include Lambeth Palace, where the archbishop of Canterbury lives, British Airways London Eye (the highest observation wheel in the world,) and the largest film screen in the UK, the BFI London IMAX cinema, which seats 500. you can get in and out of Lambeths boundaries by way of one of four bridges, the Westminster, the waterloo, the Vauxhall, or the Lambeth.
The arts and leisure section of Lambeth is on the South Bank. Here is where you can spend an evening at the theater--five of them, in fact. The Royal Festival Hall, the National Film Theater, and both Old and Young Vic are located here. Part of the area is largely residential or commercial, but the artists and theater goers of London do not seem to mind the smoke stakes and the little bit of soot, they spend most of their time inside the theaters or walking between them.
