Portobello Road, the world's largest antiques market is one of the most frequented sights in London. Located 3 km west of Marble Arch, the Portobello Road is easy to reach by road or underground from anywhere in London. The Portobello's galleries and arcades offer an astonishing variety of antiques and collectables from all around the world, dating from Roman times to the 1960s. In the service of the public and antiques trade, Portobello offers a range of shops and specialist suppliers. Some of these are - specialists in antique purchases, publications including trade magazines and antiques price guide. Special range of shops includes those for new goods including display cabinets, furniture, jewellery, photographs and prints, pharmacy etc. Other interesting items include accessories and handbags, advertising memorabilia, arms, armour and firearm curiosa, autographs, binoculars, crystal and cutlery, doorknobs, telephones and telescopes etc. The major attraction is the famous antique market held on Saturday towards the Southern end of Portobello Road, near Notting Hill Gate. You can also find a host of galleries, shops and cafes for the benefit of the tourists. While the market is open every Saturday, the shops are open six days a week. Also, the information booth is open on Saturdays at the junction Portobello Road and Westbourne Grove.
