Tottenham Court Road in London

Primarily, the Tottenham Court Road is neatly divided into electronics retailers in the southern half (Oxford Street end) and home furnishing retailers in the northern half (Warren Street end). It is located in Central London, running from St. Giles' Circus north to Euston Road, near the border of City of Westminster. It is a one-way, with all the three lanes being northbound. Popularly known as the most-frequented second tier shopping street, this place is famous for not having any price tags on its low-end audio-visual and IT equipment, with the shopkeepers charging at will. The Tottenham Court Road houses outlets like the Multiyork furniture makers, the Ultimate Burger, burger bar, and Lal Qila, an Indian food joint on its Westside. The eastside houses outlets like the Abbey Banking Services, Royal Bank of Scotland and the like. Interestingly, the road gained notoriety in 2001 when the first branch of Spearmint Rhino chain of lap dancing opened in Central London. The controversial Church of Scientology also has a shop at 60, Tottenham Court Road. Whitefield Gardens, situated opposite Habitat and Heals is a must-see at this location. It displays 'Fitzrovia Mural', a 60 feet high painting and 12 glass panels, each about 5 feet high, with each showing a collage and having a separate title.
