It focuses primarily on British women and the British women’s movement in the 19th and 20th centuries, but also has international material. This institution was established in 1926 as the Library of the London Society for Women’s Service. In 1953 it became the Millicent Fawcett Society. Since 2002, when it received its present name, the library has been housed in a new building on Old Castle Street, and is now part of the London Metropolitan University.
