The London City Airport, located at just six miles from Central London efficiently connects major cities across the UK and Europe. It is primarily intended to be used for Short Take Off and Landing (STOL) airliners mainly serving the financial districts of London. The London City Airport has one terminal on which it handles all its traffic. This single runway has a benefit of allowing its passengers to check-in as little as ten minutes before departure. The place also has a bank, three bureaux de change, ATMs, a left luggage and lost property service and a post box along with bars, cafes and a newsagent. Special provisions for the disabled like dedicated parking, easy access to terminal facilities and dedicated shuttle bus services are also there.
Another major provision is that of the Meridian Business Centre that provides a range of conference facilities like the audiovisual equipment, fax, photocopying, Internet and catering services. International Hotel London, The Tower and Apex City of London Hotel are some of the hotels around the airport. The opening of the Dockland Light Railway Branch has made the usage of this airport all the more convenient. To access, frequent direct shuttle buses link the airport with Canning Town, Canary Wharf, and the Liverpool Street, all of which lie on the Underground network.
