Gatwick Airport, the busiest single-runway in the world and the second busiest airport in the UK, is located between Horley in Surrey and Crawley in West Sussex. It operates around 70 airlines to over 200 destinations across the world and handles roughly 31 million passengers a year. The Gatwick Airport has two terminals. The first one, North Terminal, handles British Airways, Aer Lingus, Air France, Delta Air Lines and Iberia flights among others. Some charter flights also use the North Terminal. The South Terminal on the other hand handles a major portion of Gatwick's traffic, handling domestic, international and charter flights. Interestingly, after its renovation in 1958, the Gatwick airport became the world's first one with a direct railway connection.
It was also one of the first to use a fully enclosed pier-based terminal design with covered jet bridges connecting waiting areas directly to the aircraft. The access is easy for tourists with convenient public transportation both to and from the airport with a wide choice of trains, coaches, Gatwick express, taxis and car hire. The airport has a host of valet, short and long stay parking facilities as well as petrol stations. The Gatwick airport also has special facilities for children and the disabled, apart from all the 1st class airport services offered.
