Portobello Road is the most famous street in Notting Hill. It is the site of London's historic market and leading shops for London's antiques. Notting Hill is located in the West London Royal Borough of Chelsea and Kensington among a vast array of restaurants, nigh clubs, and pubs. The people make up an eclectic mix of cultures and diversity. It also has a pretty popular movie named for it and filmed there in 1999. The compact community houses 150,000 people but total people there on any given day numbers into the thousands more, for here is where a lot of Londoners work and hundreds of tourists come to visit.
Between Kensington high Street and Portobello road, the finest shopping in London can be found here, and people come from all over the world to take part in it. The Portobello road Market is an open air market with a carnival like atmosphere that takes place every Saturday. The outside flea market features everything from expensive furniture to homemade doilies. Over 1200 dealers set up stalls to hawk their wares and sell home made sweets and sandwiches. Street musicians play for change and clowns are not an uncommon site, especially on clear days.
