Named after Stansted Mountfitchet, the Stansted Airport is a medium sized airport located in Uttlesford District of Essex. This single runway is the third-busiest airport in the UK. While airlines like the Ryanair and easyJet have bases at Stansted, the Volga-Dnepr very often place a large Antonov An-124 freighter in the northwest of the main runway. Besides, FedEx is a major operator of the trans-Atlantic Services as well. Stansted has one terminal, which serves both international and domestic flights. It operates as many as 20 different airlines to 114 locations worldwide and handles about 19 million passengers every year. Transportation to and from the airport is easy. The passengers can take their pick from a wide choice of trains, coaches, Stansted express, taxis or the car hire. The Stansted Express runs every 15 minutes between the Stansted airport and London Liverpool Street.
The airport also offers a wide range of parking facilities for public convenience. Domestic passengers also have the facility of buying tax-free goods at the airport. Other facilities include a currency exchange desk (offered by Thomas Cook Bureau de Change), a Food Court, smoking area etc. In fact, the Stansted Airport is often referred to as one of the newest international airports of London. Like many other airports at London, the Stansted Airport also provides special facilities for children and the disabled apart from the other 1st class facilities.
