Womens Library of London focuses primarily on British women and the British womens movement in the 19th and 20th centuries, but also has international material. This institution was established in 1926 as the Library of the London Society for Womens Service. In 1953 it became the Millicent Fawcett Society. Since 2013, the library has been housed in London School of Economics.For Womens Library of London, students of the feminist movement and the history of women in Britain have access to over 60,000 books and publications. There is a reading room, archives, museum collections, and an exhibition hall. The library also has education and events facilities. The program of exhibitions in the museum space is constantly changing. Topics have included just about every facet of womens experiences: beauty queens, female suffrage, politics, reproductive rights, sexuality, home and family, health, education, office work, and prostitution. There are lectures, films, reading groups, and short courses. The librarys goal is to document and explore womens lives in the United Kingdom, past, present and future. The facilities are open to all visitors, male and female.
