Greater Manchester (Province) Hotels and Accommodation

The metropolitan county of Greater Manchester lies in the northwest of England, covers an area of 1,285 square kilometers and has a population of around two and a half million. The east of the county is dominated by the Pennines, whilst the West Pennine Moors lie to the west. The region has long been inhabited, with evidence of Iron Age occupation at Mellor, Celtic activity in Chochion and 1st century forts at Castlefield in Manchester itself and Castleshaw in Saddleworth.

Covering such a wide area, Greater Manchester offers a huge variety of things to see and do, and visitors can choose from a selection of budget hotels in the region. EasyToBook.com proposes a number of hotels to fit any budget, all of which are convenient for sightseeing and touring around the county. Aside from the attractions in the city of Manchester itself, such as the People’s History Museum, the Pankhurst Museum in honor of the early feminist Emmeline Pankhurt, and The Lowry, which pays homage to the Mancunian artist L S Lowry, the outlying towns of Greater Manchester offer many fascinating experiences. Stockport’s Hat Works, for example, is a tribute to the town’s history as the centre of British hat-making, and the only such museum of its kind in the United Kingdom. Here, the visitor can see everything from Egyptian wigs to 21st century headgear fashion. A short drive from your hotel will also take you to Rochdale, where the Touchstones Arts and Heritage Centre houses a superb display of contemporary quiltwork. Finally, back in Manchester, no trip to the area would be complete for football fans without a visit to the Manchester United Museum and Tour, which offers a unique insight into what is arguably the world’s most glamorous football club.
