Portree is extremely picturesque and a very quaint place to visit. It lies on Skye and is a lovely place to simply spend time in, watching the fishermen as they work or some of the men mending their nets. There are some very interesting boats that show up in the harbor from time to time, so it is well worth taking a look. The cliffs that back onto Portree offer some excellent climbing (if you are experienced enough) and there are many little quaint cottages to see, some of which are white, some of which are exceptionally bright.

There is a Heritage Centre to explore as well, showing how life in Skye has changed over the years.
