Kent is a county in southeastern England. Known affectionately as the “Garden of England”, there are a variety of things to see and things to do in Kent. One of the most famous Kent attractions, and one of the most famous attractions in England, are the white cliffs of Dover; their color is due to the fact that they are composed almost entirely of chalk. On a clear day, you can see France from the cliffs. Another of the renowned Kent sights is the Dover Castle, along with its secret underground tunnels and grounds. When you’re visiting Kent, you’ll want to travel to different points of the county to get a feel for Kent culture and history. You must visit the city of Canterbury, to admire the amazing Canterbury Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Head to the area of Westerham, to visit Chartwell, the home of Winston Churchill. In Deal, you’ll find Deal Castle, while in Hever you’ll find the Hever Castle. Spare a weekend in Kent to visit some of the more ancient attractions of the county, such as the Coldrum Stones, near Trottiscliffe; these are examples of long barrows, thought to be collective tombs.
