Beneath the busy city streets of Edinburgh lies one her darkest secrets. The city hides a maze of hidden streets in which real people lived and died between the 17th and 19th century. If you are brace enough you can now step back in time and visit these underground streets and experience some of the most dramatic episodes in Edinburgh’s past. This site is a must see for all people looking for a good scare.
The Real Mary Kings Close is constructed from a number of underground closes which were originally very narrow streets with houses on either side which went as high as seven stories and were constructed as far back as 700 years ago. While much of the buildings on the higher ends of the city were knocked down many of the lower houses were used as foundations for the construction of new buildings on top. This has resulted in the creation of a number of dark underground streets steeped in mystery.
