What you need to know before traveling to Neath Port Talbot

Neath Port Talbot is a county borough of Wales and is situated in the south of the country. Its principal towns are Neath, with a population of around 47,000, Port Talbot and Pontardawe. From the lovely resort of Aberavon Beach, popular with surfers, to Cefn Coed Colliery Museum, the region offers something for everyone. Afan Forest Park, a 120 square kilometer forest park known for its hillwalking and hiking trails, is more recently famed for mountain biking. The Penhydd trail is a 22 km loop which was voted as ‘the trail to ride before you die’, by What Mountain Bike magazine in 2004. At Margam, you can visit Margam Country Park, set in more than 3 square kilometers of beautiful parklands. As well as the superb example of a Tudor-Gothic style Victorian mansion, the park has an 18th century Orangery, a 12th century Chapter House and a unique Fuschia Collection. You can also explore Margam Castle and Abbey and view an outstanding collection of early Christian sculpture and inscribed stones dating back to the 6th century, all displayed in a charming early church schoolhouse in the town.
