In the city of Omagh, you can locate a fine example of early 19th century neo-Classical architecture. Of locally quarried sandstone, it is a product of the so-called Greek revival style in architecture. This is the Omagh courthouse. You can locate it on High Street, in the center of the town. It is the work of John Hargrave.

The Omagh courthouse stands on the same site as the former Omagh Gaol. Construction on the Courthouse ended in 1820. A listed structure, the Omagh courthouse purportedly cost the enormous sum of £17,000. In spite of a slew of renovations in the intervening years, the building has retained its original design and nature. The pseudo-Doric pillars, on the front entryway facade, support the triangular pediment. Climb up the 12 steps to enter the building. Inside the neo-classical style continues with its use of high ceilings and pillars. If you can, wander to the right of the building. Above one of the fanlight windows, you will see an undated statue of Justice. A small figure, she balances the scales.
