The region of Perth and Kinross lies in central Scotland and has the city of Perth as its administrative center. Not only does the area contain a wealth of archaeological and architectural heritage, but also stunning scenery and all the modern facilities that you could desire. The two cities of Perth and Kinross provide opportunities to experience the culture and heritage of the region, as well as to indulge in some shopping for those typically Scottish souvenirs to take back home. As a consistent winner of the Beautiful Britain award, Perth is a pleasure to behold. The city’s streets are filled with color from Easter right through to Fall. Scone Palace, on the outskirts of the town, makes for a fascinating visit, being the site where every Scottish king was crowned. The town of Kinross stands on the shores of the beautiful Loch Leven, and Loch Leven Castle can be reached by a tiny ferry. It was from here that Mary, Queen of Scots escaped in 1568. Other historic sites in the region include The Well in Scotlandwell, Michael Bruce’s Cottage, former home of the poet, and Burleigh Castle near Milnathort.
