The Scottish Borders offer a really unique insight into how two nations join together. England and Scotland are very much intertwined here and yet there are differences, especially in the currency. Some ‘borders’ towns such as Berwick upon Tweed are actually in England, yet they also have a Scottish air about them, as if they aren't sure whether they are Scottish or English, so it is great to dip between the two nations and see the differences. If you do land in Berwick upon Tweed, make sure that you see the RNLI (Lifeboat) Museum. Take in some of the lovely little Scottish towns such as Selkirk and Biggar and when you are in Biggar have a look at the Albion Museum, which is actually a Motor Museum. You should also visit Jedburgh, which is a really lovely little town.
