One of the nicest mansions still standing unaffected in this part of Merry Olde England, Aston Hall is a real treat for the United Kingdom tourist who is looking for an attraction to give them a glimpse at the area’s local history. On its own, the building is a magnificent example of period Jacobean architecture, representing all the affections of that style at such a point where all the “kinks” had been worked on.
Originally built for wealthy local Sir Thomas Holte, Aston Hall stood for many years in its original state, until it sustained collateral damage from troops during the Civil War. Since then, however, it has been painstaking restored using traditional methods with an eye towards the original style, and what you see before you today is much like the Hall as it was originally constructed in the 17th century. Visitors can take guided tours of the Hall and learn quite a bit while doing so.
