Dedicated to St. Michael, the Coventry Cathedral (also known, of course, as St. Michael’s Cathedral) is a must see attraction for visitors to the area who are interested in local history, religion, or architecture. Frequently seen as an indispensable staple of the Coventry countryside, as well as an important historic relic, the Coventry Cathedral is actually something like two cathedrals in one.

For starters, there are the ruins of an ancient cathedral dating back many centuries. It has since been destroyed, of course, but the ruins are a popular attraction for the glimpse they offer at ages gone past, as they played out in Coventry. The new cathedral is a more modern construction, still standing and fully functional, offering weekly church services and acting as home to priests and abbots of the local diocese. It is a popular tradition to walk from the ruins of the old cathedral to the populous new one in order to trace the march of history itself in a symbolic fashion.
