Coventry is widely known as the birthplace of England’s automotive and cycling industry, and as such, is the place where you can find many relevant attractions, like the massive Coventry Transportation Museum. However, the tradition is not just confined to the ground, as evidenced by the collection on display at the Midland Air Museum, just outside Coventry.
The museum is suited inside a large hangar where many different types of aircraft are on permanent display as part of an exhibition showing off the history of local aviation. In addition to small single-person aircrafts, there are also several large vessels, the Avro Vulcan B-2, and the Armstrong Whitworth Argosy. The first of the two often saw deployment during the Cold War as part of NATO’s nuclear deterrent program. The Museum also features historic fighters such as the English Electric Canberra PR3 and the Gloster Meteor. Guided tours are available to get the most out of the attraction.
