Nicknamed the City of Angels, though more commonly known as L.A., Los Angeles is the most populous city in California and the second largest city in the US. Among other things, Los Angeles, California is the American entertainment industry's cultural center and is known for its sprawling metropolis, ethnic diversity and Mediterranean climate. In addition to being the home of Hollywood, Los Angeles is also one of the biggest leaders and motion picture production, television productions, recorded music and video games.
When to visit
In general, Los Angeles tourism is mostly influenced by entertainment industry events and the American vacation system. The city is busiest during its peak travel season from June to September, when ocean water temperatures are up and schools let out for summer break. Although, for booking purposes, entertainment industry events and holidays should always be treated like peak seasons. Aside from summer, the best times to visit are from March to April and October to November, when days are warm and nights are cool. This is also when crowds are smallest and skies are the clearest.
Since Los Angeles enjoys just enough precipitation every year to avoid being classified as a semi-arid climate, they enjoy a pleasant subtropical-Mediterranean climate. This means that L.A. enjoys average yearly temperatures that range from 60-75°F (15-23°C). With winter highs averaging in the upper 60s, and summer highs averaging around the mid-80s, Los Angeles is a great destination any time of year. June through August are the driest months of the year, while the wettest are from January to March. However, for travelers, the infamous Santa Ana winds from October to March may be a source of irritation. Despite the improvements in air pollution, smog is still a problem for Los Angeles (especially during the hot summer months). In general, smog is worse the further inland you go.
Los Angeles, CA is definitely one of those places that are going to warrant more than one trip in order to do everything there is to do. Of course, there's no way you can visit L.A. without going by to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the TLC Chinese Theatre. However, you can also expand on the Hollywood experience by checking out Paramount Pictures, Hollywood's last TV and film studio. For the real star treatment, take a cruise down Sunset Boulevard or go window-shopping on Rodeo Drive. Tired of fighting the crowds? Take a day off from sightseeing and relax on one of the many beautiful beaches that Los Angeles has to offer: Santa Monica Pier and Beach, Zuma Beach and Venice Beach are some best ones to enjoy.
Being full of rich and cultural history, as well as being an economic powerhouse, it is little surprise that L.A. is full of museums, tours and historical and cultural sights. Los Angeles is full of sights and sounds to endlessly entertain, but some of the most renowned stops and activities include:
• The Getty Center
• Griffith Observatory
• Cultural Tours
• Universal Studios Hollywood
• California Science Center
• Nethercutt Museum
• Sightseeing Tours
• Historical & Heritage Tours
• STAPLES Center

Tips & Recommendations
• Always check the weather – Even though L.A. has warm summers, the beaches are often cooler in the afternoons. In addition, temperatures can vary significantly over short distances.
• Do NOT use the freeway – While the 405 might sound like a good idea at first, it should in fact be avoided at all costs. Whether it's midnight or rush hour, the 405 seems to constantly be jammed. Time to pull up the GPS and re-route.
• Plan an itinerary – L.A. is HUGE with a billion things to see and do. Without planning an itinerary that lets you see everything that is closely located, you could spend your entire trip traveling from one location to the next.
