Hotels near Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles - Best deals & budget rates!

The Griffith Observatory was once home to some of the most important experiments and observations going on in the science of astronomy and represented a great number of advances in the field, including the first detailed mapping of the surface of the moon. It mostly operates as a tourist attraction, serving as something of a museum for the history of astronomy.

Hosting a slew of rotating exhibits, the Observatory offers visitors the chance to see a number of important astronomical artifacts, such as the Foucault Pendulum (a perpetual motion machine proving categorically the rotation of the earth), and the first Zeiss telescope. Notably, at the request of the observatory’s founder, one of the exhibits branches away from space science to the life science to give a detailed and resoundingly narrated glimpse at human evolution.
