LA is home to many treasures, and many of the most spectacular can be found doing what they do best at this one cherished spot in the downtown area. Here, you’ll see the grounds that were home to some of the most intense moments in modern sports, such as the title fight between Jose Becerra and Alphonse Halimi in 1959, or the late 60's seasons of the Lakers, and late 80's seasons of the Clippers, before they moved on to their own venues.
Nowadays, most of the big name sports teams have departed to their own dedicated facilities, and the Los Angeles Sports Arena plays host to local events such as high school basketball tournaments and the final games of the yearly NCAA basketball playoffs, and a number of non-sports related gatherings as well, such as the 1960 Democratic National Convention.
