In a relatively short period of time the community of Moreno Valley in Riverside County, California, has exploded from a town of 18,000 to a city of 150,000. Moreno Valley is an hour’s drive east of Los Angeles, in the region known as California’s Inland Empire. It is closely tied with its nearest neighbor, the city of Riverside. Many of the people who book into budget hotels in Moreno Valley and Riverside are here to shop in the Moreno Valley Mall. The Mall is on the site once occupied by the Riverside International Raceway.

Moreno Valley is known for its Crosswinds Community Theatre. It is near three major mountain resorts; Mountain High, Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear. However, the main attraction for visitors in discount hotels in Moreno Valley and Riverside is March Field. In 1918 the United States Army Air Service, which eventually became the U.S. Air Force, built March Field as a training ground for pilots. In WWII it again was used for training purposes. Today March Field is used by the California Air National Guard’s 163rd Air Refueling Wing, the USAF 452nd Air Mobility Wing, and Montana’s 120th Fighter Wing. The March Field Museum has an exciting display of over 50 aircraft from 1918 to the present. You can see everything from a huge B-52 bomber to a super-secret SR-71 Blackbird. Every second weekend in May March Field holds Air Fest. People come from all over to see vintage and new planes, and to watch aerial performances.
