San Diego’s Coronado Bridge is one of the city’s most famous landmarks. The 11,179-foot-long bridge links San Diego with Coronado, California. The bridge has been open to the public since 1969, and was built with a curvature that allows the US Naval Ships traveling to and from nearby Naval Station San Diego to pass under it. Traveling the bridge during evening rush hour, when traffic is heavy, is a great way to enjoy San Diego’s famous sunset!
Located beneath the bridge is world famous Chicano Park, a 7 acre park known for the murals and sculptures that pay homage to the culture of the area’s many Mexican immigrants. The park is a vibrant display of Hispanic culture of the residents of the Logan Heights community. The park has been designated an official historic site by the San Diego Historical Board.
