Santa Fe Station is San Diego’s Amtrak Station, but, to the tourist, it’s much more than a transit station. Santa Fe Station was built by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroads. The building is recognized for its architectural significance and its beautiful Spanish-Mission-Colonial Revival style. The building is listed on the Historic America Buildings Survey and the National Register of Historic Places.
Be certain to take your camera on your visit to Santa Fe Station, as you’re certain to want pictures of the beautiful clay tile floors and the specially cast lights. Because of its location, you might choose to pair a visit to Santa Fe station with one to downtown San Diego, as it is right in the city centre. You can catch the downtown trolley from here, to make seeing downtown even easier.
