The San Diego Zoo is one of San Diego’s most popular attractions, and is rated as one of the top zoos in the USA. The zoo is located in Balboa Park, just north of downtown San Diego, an area that offers plenty of San Diego hotels and restaurants. With a total area of 100 acres( 40 ha), the zoo is home to some 3700 rare and endangered animals, representing more than 650 species. The zoo’s pandas and koalas rank as the most popular attractions. This year, the San Diego Zoo offers Elephant Odyssey, a brand new exhibit. Not only can you see elephants in this exhibit, but you can explore fossils and remains of the elephants’ predecessor, the Wooly Mammoth. This exhibit is particularly interesting because of the many fossils housed here, right alongside today’s elephants.
The zoo is one attraction you’ll want to explore for an entire day, and you’ll want to pay the zoo a visit even if you’re not traveling with children.
