I like the location and the price is very reasonable. the staff checked me in early (noon-ish) since the room was ready. i appreciated that. 
It is an older hotel but it has everything i was looking for. Anonymous

Cozy hotel 2 blocks from union square. huge room and very clean. not your modern hotel but definitely comfortable and worth the cheap price for staying in s.f. the staff were very friendly, polite and efficient. would stay there again. The only thing about the hotel was (which the hotel itself couldn't help) was the rude younger crowd yelling and being loud at 2 am. of course there was no ac but most lower end hotels don't in s.f.Anonymous

Staff did a good job at everything. it is not quite old-fashioned enough to be considered kitchy and not quite pretty enough to be considered quaint, but for the price it was better than expected. the view was excellent and the location was perfect.No ice machine. the elevator was exciting to use (in a bad way). parking is an extra $26 per 24 hours as of 10/16/2009 - actually not a bad price, but it still costs extra and might kill the deal compared to other hotels that have their own parking lot.Anonymous

The cleaning lady was very nice and accommodating, so was one of the front desk man, giving us directionsBecause of the hotel being located on 2 busy streets, it was noisy with traffic, bus, and people noise at nightBoyle

I'd been there a few days with some friends and switched rooms when my fiancee arrived. new room was also clean. hair driers are kept behind the front desk and are full size.Queen bed in room 301 was very uncomfortable. did not ask to switch because we were so busy and didn't want to repack, but definitely check the bed as soon as you get in. the single and double beds in the other rooms were very comfortable so make sure you get a good one. tv was just as bad - an old model and only a couple of channels.Anonymous

Everything was clean, beds were comfortable, good shower pressure.Tv only has a few channels and is a very old model.
easytobook website wrongly stated there was complementary continental breakfast and that tax was included in the price. would have gone to the grant plaza if not given bad info.
