The Sutro Baths in San Francisco were originally built in 1896. At that time, the Sutro Baths were billed as the world’s largest indoor swimming pool. A huge structure was built over a protected inlet of the Pacific Ocean. There were seven swimming pools, one fresh water and the other six salt water. The water was recycled every 5 hours.
