The room is generally clean. for the price that i paid, the location was excellent. i feel safe too. 
We are not able to check-in earlier as we have arrived in the morning (we were able to check-in earlier in another budget hotel in san diego). the rooms are not sound proof, you can hear other occupants talking or when they close the door.
one night when we returned, we saw a lady, with a tripod and camera, taking pics into the peephole of the room next to us. MENG HUI

Great location, but room was awful. we were facing an alley, and there was no remote to the tv. also, the doors weren't so helpful as far as noise. the website is definetiely different from what i actual saw so it was quite deceiving. Elliott

It is close to union squareThis hotel is fine as long as you can do without, a tv remote, light bulbs in you lamps, klenex, clock, telephone, or any other standard features in a normal hotel room. this room was dirty, the bathtub had been painted and looked dirty, the light in the bathroom was a bare bulb, no counter space for toileties, cracked and leaky toilet, the toilet rim was black and looked as it had not been cleaned, bathroom floor was rusted and looked dirty, noisy refrigerator, curtians were 2 feet too long for the window and draped on the floor, a full size bed rather than a queen or king. this room did not resemble the room in any picture we had viewed on the website. this hotel is a converted low income housing unit(single resident occupent sro) and needs a lot of renovations and update.
