"Fantastic value, outstanding location, great service"
The Park Hotel is by no means fancy, but it is exceptional value for money and in an absolutely fantastic location (just seconds from Union Square, tons of great shops and restaurants and public transport). Rooms are a little basic but always spotlessly clean (and having a fridge in each rom is really handy). The kitchen is a real bonus, it's great to be able to get yourself hot drinks and make breakfast without having to eat out for every single meal. The staff are fantastic, I wish I'd remembered to get the name of the guy on reception because he was exceptional. We arrived early in the day after a very early flight and when we arrived at the hotel to see if we could drop our bags off he saw we were tired and let us have our rooms straight away rather than wait until the regular check in time. He gave us loads of great advise about places to visit, was always on hand to show us the best bus routes and was all round friendly and kind.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back to the Park Hotel. My only caution would be that if you are a light sleeper, ask for a room towards the back of the hotel as the street below the front is quite busy.

 "The location was wonderful"
Pros: The location was wonderful....right in the heart of downtown and the neighborhood felt safe in the daytime and early evening. parking garage was right across the street. the hotel room was clean.
Cons: Our room was on the 4th floor and faced sutter street. traffic noises kept us awake most of the night. then if the traffic and sirens weren't bad enough in the middle of the night a generator comes on right below our window and someone starts to hose off the sidewalk. there were no blackout curtains so the lights from the businesses shine through brightly all night. if you are hoping to get a good nights sleep don't stay at this hotel.

"The only thing good about this hotel was its close proximity to the start..."
Pros: The only thing good about this hotel was its close proximity to the start of the san fran marathon.
Cons: Its important to get a good nights sleep the night before you run a marathon. that all i really wanted from my stay at the park hotel. a quiet dark moderately cool room, and a bed were all i really needed. all i got was the bed. there was no way to adjust the heat in my room, and the heater stayed on all night for no reason. it wasn't particularly cold out. the heater was just on. all. night. long. this left me sweating in the bed with no clothes on and utilizing no covers. when the heat got absolutely unbearable i was forced to open the window, which let in all the disturbing sounds of the city. these sounds were somewhat bothersome with the window shut, but with the window open there was little to no hope of any further sleep. i could go on about how mush light the room let in, or how the one microwave in the hotel was unavailable due to a locked door when i went to make my breakfast in the morning, but i won't. i partially blame this hotel for me narrowly missing the qualifying time for the boston marathon. this pissed me off to no end.
